Disney SM Moms – On The Road Conference

When my husband and I traveled to Disney World, eight years ago to celebrate our first wedding anniversary we dreamed of a distant vacation with our future children.  With intertwined Disney memories from our own childhoods, we finally made our first family vacation last December – and that experience, through the eyes of our kids was more incredible than we could have ever imaged.

Having the opportunity to collaborate with Disney in various capacities via this website has been a true joy.  And when I had a chance to attend the Disney Social Media Moms, On The Road, Conference, last month, I knew that it would be a valuable experience.  Although it conflicted with my little boy’s final day of Nursery School and an event at my daughter’s school, I worked out hoping on a train to Philly for my first solo night in a hotel ever (EVER!) in motherhood.

With the conference abuzz with Disney industry leaders and the spirit of excitement among peers, I learned about the latest Disney innovations.  From magic bands to streamline the Disney experience, to the 50th Anniversary celebration of It’s a Small World and the official opening of New Fanstasyland featuring the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – Disney is constantly injecting unprecedented magic into their brand.

The conference also gave writers an inspiring experience, with workshops featuring female entrepreneurs and tips to running successful websites.

Since so much of what I do as a writer takes place behind a computer screen, I’m grateful for the personal interactions – especially having the chance to meet and thank Disney PR for giving me the opportunity to write about our Disney trip – and conversing with people whom I’ve only known virtually by name and a head shot.  For the past year, I’ve been working closely with HP as an HP Mom and I was thrilled to chat with HP about the HP Envy printer and Pavilion convertible/hybrid laptop  that have aided in my everyday life tremendously.

I  couldn’t stop thinking about the retold story of a lost teddy bear in Disney World – returned with a photo album chronicling the Bear’s adventures in the parks while away from its child owner.  Described as a natural occurrence in the Disney arena.

And with that spirit in mind, I left a note with items from my goodie bag for the hotel receptionist, a self-proclaimed Disney-fanatic with dreams of attending the Disney College Program.

Here’s to her Disney dreams and all of your’s coming true.
