Delicious Meals For Busy Families

Do you ever get stuck in a perpetual rut of cooking the same recipes over and over again? So much so, that steadfast favorites become of ZERO interest to your family?  A few years ago, we shared our family’s mealtime success with Blue Apron In fact, to this day, I incorporate recipe tips into my cooking that Blue Apron taught me over two years ago.

Blue Apron is a weekly meal kit delivery service that provides everything needed to make delicious, perfectly portioned meals for your family. The service is shipped directly to your door with all of the necessary fresh ingredients (in a refrigerated box) along with recipe sheets containing detailed cooking instructions and photos.

I arranged for three meal kits to be dropped off in time for the children’s spring break. Our weekly schedule was packed with work commitments and activities – and I looked forward to skipping dinner planning and all that goes along with my usual trips to three different grocery stores.  Little did I know when I placed my Blue Apron order that the boy would get the plague (A.K.A. strep throat), and we’d be home-bound, where I’d rarely leave my little one’s side.

The timing of our service turned out to be a lifesaver. I didn’t have to worry about what to make for dinner because everything that I needed was efficiently organized within my refrigerator. The preparation was simple and fun –  providing so many aspects that we completely adore, like trying new flavors and ingredients! While we knew that we were getting a salmon, chicken and pasta dish, we didn’t know what the dishes would taste like, bringing fresh ideas into our home. And with both my husband and daughter involved in the prep, cooking with Blue Apron was a culinary adventure for us all.

Both of the kids enjoy helping in the kitchen, and they are still more inclined to try new things when they are invested in the process. While our little guy wasn’t well-enough to contribute, our big girl proved to be a stellar sous-chef. Who knew that English peas could prove to be so fascinating?

All three dinners were delicious, and the perfectly portioned farm fresh ingredients create zero food waste.  As a busy, work-from-home mom, I love the convenience that Blue Apron provides me, the introduction of fresh recipes, and the cooking lessons packed in each meal kit.

  8. All of these meals look delicious!! A friend of mine (who is also a mom of four) swears by Blue Apron…she orders meals all the time. I love the idea that everything is already portioned. You know I love to cook and invent recipes but I would love to have everything already cut and portioned, that takes up so much time when preparing meals!

  9. Mealtime is certainly a challenge when trying to figure out how to mix things up. Blue Apron has some incredible ideas for making attractive, healthy meals. Eating the same favorites over and over gets boring and even a different veggie can brighten the table.

  13. Those are some great looking dishes. I can think of many times Blue Apron would come in handy, the height of sports season being first and foremost in my mind (because who really has time to cook during the big games season for the kids!).
