Upon the heels of a magical first family vacation to Walt Disney World, I was excited to be selected to host a #DisneySide Home Celebrations party. As soon as I received a fantastic American Tourister suitcase full of Disney themed supplies – the party planner in me wanted to go overboard. As I thought a bit more about my interpretation of Disney Side, I realized that I wanted the party to focus on storytelling and reliving Disney experiences together. Although there was fun food and great crafts, the emphasis was on the Disney memories that guests came prepared to share.
I made these fun cookies in honor of my little guy’s favorite Magic Kingdom ride, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. I loved seeing my three-year-old swell up with pride as he told everyone about his laser powers and meeting Buzz Lightyear.
Lucia’s steadfast attire of choice has been the Queen Elsa Dress that I made for her, and she naturally spoke about meeting her Frozen favorites at Epcot.
Evidence of a great time filled my in-law’s home, as did belly laughter over family Disney stories.
I brought a massive box of chocolates (from the little guy’s school fund raiser) for the best Disney story. My mother-in-law shared a collection of roller coaster pictures that were snapped of her and her sister at Disney World several years ago. Their expressions had the entire party in hysterics, as did the stories of reactions from strangers who viewed the images after the ride. Needless to say, she won the prize! And I suppose that’s what we all love about Disney – the ability to bring out the child in us all, in a magical place where time seems to stand still throughout generations.
Cheers to celebrating our collective Disney Side!
Read my other Disney-related posts under the label Disney. I received party supplies as a Disney Side Party host. All opinions are my own.
This looks like a picture perfect party! Love the storytelling focus.
