A New Year & Great Starts With Team Kellogg’s

I love the feeling of a fresh start that a new year brings.  This past year was rich with memories and I’m welcoming 2014 with open arms.  I often tell my family (and myself) that every morning brings a new beginning, regardless of what happens the day before.  Lucia and Adrian typically wake up brimming with excitement –  “WHAT ARE WE DOING TODAY MAMA?!!” they exclaim before belly-flopping into my bed.

Children are great reminders of the possibilities in each new day.

Mornings are important – they set the tone for the entire day and it’s my job to ensure that we all get off to a solid start.   I’m excited to be teaming up with Kellogg’s in the New Year to pass on advice to help us all achieve great starts.  Over the course of the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing how I incorporate tips from Team Kellogg’s into my own busy schedule; including Tip #11  – Mix it up with Cereal Freestyle – which makes mornings interesting by combining my kids’ favorite cereals.  It’s a simple way to keep the little people excited during the school send-off whirlwind.

  1. No question about it, breakfast is important. It gets difficult as kids get older and are on their own more. I keep at least 10 cereals in the house and my son grabs whatever appeals to him in the morning before school, as grabbing cereal is quick and easy and nutritious.

My older son is in college and while he’s gone I always stockpile cereal for him. Every time he comes home, I give him multiple boxes to take back with him. They’re perfect for a dorm room as a breakfast or as a snack.

    • Wow – 10 cereals is impressive! I learned that having a bit more variety really helps our mornings. I’ll be sharing more tips from Team Kellogg’s soon and really liked the above referenced one. For some reason my kids go nuts when I mix their favorite cereals.

  2. I often skip breakfast, ever since I was a teenager…but I want to change that in 2014. I look forward to your posts over the next few weeks, perhaps it will give me the encouragement to change my eating habits.

Gorgeous picture! Happy New Year to you and yours.

  3. Love the idea of freestyle cereal! Sounds delicious!
Breakfast is so important especially for kids. A solid start to the day will mean they will learn better, behave better and grow up knowing the importance of breakfast.

  5. This is one of those… “I can’t believe I never thought of that before!” things. 🙂 I love the idea of mixing my favorite Kellogg’s cereals together. Can’t wait to try it!

  6. I definitely have to have breakfast in the morning. It’s so important to have a great start.

  7. Every morning brings a new beginning – love it! I can’t believe I’ve never tried mixing cereals because I love mixing foods…. my son, however, would have a heart attack if any of his foods touched lol. I look forward to seeing your tips!

  8. I do this all the time but never thought to do it with my son! I bet he would love doing this and it would be another way to get him involved with what he eats!

  9. It can really set the whole tone to a day to start it off right like this! I love the whole freestyle idea too. 🙂
