NYC Wine & Food Festival

The 6th annual Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival took place this past weekend bringing together iconic world renowned chefs and wine experts, benefiting Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign.  Marino Bambinos was lucky enough to attend on behalf of Unilever’s launch of two new spreads: Country Crock® Simply Delicious and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® Deliciously Simple™

We were most intrigued by the brands move towards simple recognizable ingredients, which the company describes as a response to the growing consumer demand for foods with simple ingredients.  Both spreads contain a blend of canola oil, nonfat yogurt, and a pinch of salt and are free of artificial flavors and hydrogenated oils.

Food Festival attendees comprised of culinary experts, media members and consumers were among the first to sample the new spreads in a variety of palette pleasing ways.  The warm artisan bread bar serving a variety of premium breads with the new spreads and herb toppings was well packed.  The tasty pancakes made with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® Deliciously Simple™, paired with baked apples made with Country Crock® Simply Delicious were also a big hit.

With a better nutritional profile than butter and a rich and creamy taste, I’m looking forward to testing the spreads out in my own kitchen in many ways, including that casserole recipe that I shared a few weeks ago.

I’m happy to see the global leader in the spreads category respond to consumer needs with products containing simpler ingredients.  The move away from artificial flavors is something that I hope other companies will emulate.

    • That’s exactly why I was interested in collaborating with this brand – I think that a move to recognizable, simpler ingredients is fantastic. I hope to see more of it!
