TollyTots Playdate In The City – Supporting Operation Smile

Lucia and I recently  attended a Playdate in The City hosted by TollyTots – a leader in the toy making arena – creating innovative toys for Disney, Graco, Fisher Price, Baby Genius, Rubik’s and Safety 1st.  The stunning venue at 620 Loft & Garden in Rockefeller Center, was transformed into a picturesque playhouse – complete with a dedicated My First Disney Princess room, decked in flowing pink chiffon canopy curtains.  The sweetest women acquainted enthralled little children with an adorable Holiday collection of  My first Disney Princess (and Prince) Dolls, miniature strollers, cradles and accessories.  Just imagine Lucia Paloma’s excitement when she walked in and saw this:

Lucia was so captivated by the display that I actually had to tell her that it was OK to go and play.

She was also lucky enough to leave with a few toys from the event.  Her favorite doll by far is My First Disney Princess Lights and Lullaby Bedtime Aurora.  In the short time that she has had her, baby Aurora has become her new lovey.  Lucia recently developed a fear of the dark and has decided that her doll “protects her”.  When Lucia presses her dolls tummy, lights appear and on a second press lovely music and and a multicolored display are activated.

Lucia was also intrigued by the new Merida doll, complete with her noble horse named Angus.  Since Brave was such a huge box office hit, (I’m a fan!) I imagine that this set will be at the top of many Holiday wish lists.

My little boy’s nap time coincided with the event, and I was thrilled when I was given a Prince Charming doll to take home for him.  I’ve seen Adrian follow in his big sister’s footsteps and often take a baby doll or princess around on his little adventures to nurture.  It’s been so much fun to watch him play with a doll that he can identify with.  Adrian has spent a considerable amount of time studying Prince Charming (named boy), and saying things like “he’s a boy, and I’m a boy, and Daddy’s a boy.”  I think that many little boys and girls would be thrilled to receive a Prince this Holiday season!

Drink up Prince!

I only had a chance to glimpse at the other toy sections since Lucia kept me occupied in princess paradise. Nostalgic of my own childhood days, the innovative and colorful Rubik’s collection certainly caught my eye.

Perhaps the most amazing facet of this event is Tollytots involvement and dedication to Operation Smile.  For each family in attendance, Tollytots donated one life changing surgery to a child in need around the globe.  Attendees were able to make individual donations, as well.  I felt moved as I merely glimpsed around the room and imagined the number of lives that would be touched through children immersed in pretend play.  I  truly hope that my children will grow with a moral imperative to engage in some sort of service and I’ve been working on instilling this value, on a level that a four-year-old can comprehend.  I was able to explain to Lucia that TollyTots (the company behind some of her favorite toys) was donating medical services to children who greatly need them.  What a solid example to set.

I was not compensated for this post.  My children received toys and a gift bag at the event.  All opinions are my own.
