Books & Bedtime With Pinkalicious {Bedding & Storybook Giveaway}

Watching my daughter learn how to read at 4.5 years of age, was by far one of the most rewarding milestones to experience in motherhood.  I’m always trying to strengthen both Lucia and Adrian’s interest in reading and literacy appreciation.  There is nothing quite like getting lost in a book, identifying with a character and longing to gobble up the words on the pages.

As the parent of a newish reader I have two important tips to share:

  • Have books available that your child wants to devour.
  • Have books available that are aligned with your child’s current reading level.

Lucia loves everything Pinkalicious, and I appreciate the values woven through the stories.  We have a collection of Victoria Kann’s Pinkalicious books in our home library, and we were lucky enough to take in the Vital Theatre’s Pinkalicous The Musical from front row seating this past spring.  I couldn’t wait to surprise Lucia with a grand Pinkalicious surprise: Pinkalicious – The Pinkamazing Storybook Collection, a Pinkalicious Twin Comforter set and Pinkalicious Twin Sheet Set.  It was indeed Christmas in July en el casa de Marino.

The Pinkalicious- Pinkamazing Storybook Collection includes 6 books in one great hardcover book.  Four of the books are part of the I Can Read series Level 1 (appropriate for ages 4 – 8), which is perfect for my voracious reader.  This storybook is the sort of book that makes my Lucia sneak into the bathroom for a flashlight to continue her bedtime reading after I have left the room.  The stories and beautiful illustrations definitely pique her interest, and the reading level helps to strengthen her budding confidence.

The sweet Pinkalicious comforter set and sheet set are a Pinkalicious lovers dream come true.  The comforter has a beautiful ruffled edge, and the reverse side has a unique faux patchwork-quilt look, featuring images from the Pinkalicious series including unicorns, cupcakes, flowers and crowns. Lucia’s favorite part is definitely the applique gold star wand on the comforter and pillow case.  For a few years, I tried to maintain a minimal white  look in the children’s shared bedroom, but I’ve grown to learn that my littles are most happy with bedding that they love.  The change to a character theme made Lucia feel really special.
