Go Explore: Family Adventuring Favorites

It’s been a while since we’ve shared a list of things that we love – and there have been a few go-to items that we’ve been using on the regular.  The sorts of things that have been our absolute summer favorites through several adventures – and ones we’ll continue to depend on come Fall.

First up, is the best sort of collector (and game!) for kids to admire and arrange bits of nature that they pick up along the way.  We’ve been packing frisbees with us throughout several seasons.  They are perfect for admiring treasures, making flower mandalas and sifting through seashells.  And pretty soon they’ll be full with acorns.

Supportive, comfortable and protective footwear is imperative for long hikes. Merrell continues to be our top choice for the children.  They are incredibly durable and seem to last forever.  Every year, we pick them up at Stride Ride.

We can always depend on Lands’ End for comfortable clothing that allows kiddos to focus on the important work of exploring and playing.  The clothing maintains itself well, lasting through excursions and camp, dirt and washing. Below, the kids are outfitted in summer favorites, but we’re currently loving their Made Better collection for back-to-school and their Men’s options too!

Where would we be without Mabel’s labels?  My kids have a tendency to leave things everywhere.  And while we are constantly working on responsibility and accountability – many lost belongings manage to come back our way (even in new surroundings) thanks to Mabel’s Labels.

Bug Bites are awful, yet so is stinky and harmful DEET-containing bug spray.  We’re loyal to Guardian Repellant.  It’s effective, and safe for the kiddos too.

Please chime in the comments, and let me know what you’d add to my list!

Joy-Spreading

Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that I’m no longer the mother of a tiny little girl.  This one continues to surprise me with her wisdom and foresight and endless questions.  Questions that leave me constantly searching for answers – so that I can answer her with truths and assure her that she will be forever loved just as she is.  I have adored the shape of six – in its curiosity, playfulness and optimistic eagerness.

My wish for her is that she always holds onto the unabashed  joy that she so freely spreads.

No Added Sugar || The Sunday Swoon

Welcome back to the Sunday Swoon!  I’m so excited to share this week’s collaboration with No Added Sugar; a luxury childrenswear brand based out of London – well-loved in the UK for their edgy “Brit-Cool” pieces.

We have a few upcoming celebrations and getaways ahead that call for polished yet comfortable looks for the children and I adore the designs in No Added Sugar’s Spring/Summer ’14 collection.  What first began as a witty baby T-shirt company, sprung into full childrenswear glory with a mission of injecting a bit of adventure into the pit-sized wardrobe.  With collections ranging from newborn to 12 years, their luxe and contemporary clothing is created with the highest standards using their own fabrics.

The garments are original and beautiful – and their cool but unobtrusive branding adds an element of fun to each piece.  Lucia’s dress was clearly designed to pass the twirl test and Adrian’s structured outfit is incredibly comfortable.  Lucia still has a bit of room to grow into her cardigan and dress – and Adrian’s adjustable-waist pants accommodate for growth.

We have lots of great fun planned for these versatile outfits!
