Skyn Iceland Skincare at Henri Bendel

In many ways, I’m a former beauty junky.  The interest is still there, however, I don’t spend as much time caring for myself as I would like to.  Now that my children are getting older, I’m trying  to remember to give back to myself and rejuvenate – at home and elsewhere.

Last month, I attended an event hosted by Lara of Pretty Connected which focused on slowing down and cooling down with Skyn Iceland at Henri Bendel.  The private event room was transformed into a relaxing space with tranquil beauty treatments and healthy treats.

I first discovered Skyn Iceland during my first pregnancy when I searched for quality products that were paraben-free and natural.  I had the chance to speak with founder Sarah Kugelman about her product inspiration drawn from her travels in Iceland and her dedication to keeping her products completely safe.

I’ve since tested out the above products, and they have added a soothing element to my (typically rushed) at home regime.  The Glacial Cleansing Cloths have been a perfect post spinning class refresher and the Antidote Cooling Daily Lotion feels heavenly and smells divine.  I’ve been spritzing myself  throughout the day with the Arctic Face Mist and I’m able to create a spa-like experience at home with the Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels.

I’ve definitely spent time thinking about the ways in which stress may manifest itself in my body – and I’m working on improving my self care.  I’m glad that I had the chance to meet with the one skincare line specifically formulated to address the damaging effects of stress on the skin.

Barbie Is Moving Tour – NYC {Sponsored}

I have vivid memories of going to my sweet friend Lauren’s house and spending hours playing with her impressive Barbie collection.  Barbie has come a long way since my 80’s childhood (my fav was Peaches and Cream), and she is now a Doctor, the President, a Veterinarian, a Pilot, among many other things.  It seems fitting that she has officially left her home in Malibu, California (after 41 years of residency!) to search for a new place to call home.  New York City is an obvious choice for her, and I’ll be surprising my Lucia with an exciting Barbie event in Times Square next week (anyone can join us – the event is open to all!)

The Barbie Is Moving Mobile Tour is currently traveling across North America in search of Barbie’s new digs. Her tour will be stopping to scope out New York City (on Friday, July 12th) and Long Island (on Saturday, July 13th) with exciting events at the below locations:

New York City
 Long Island

Best of all the Barbie is Moving Mobile Tour is FREE and families are invited to come and experience fun activities and enter mega giveaways including:

  • A Barbie Mega blocks station for little ones to create their architectural fantasies.
  • An interactive fashion runway show (with fun photo opps).
  • A station for budding fashion designers, to create and customize their own Barbie garment to take home.
  • A chance to win the ultimate bedroom makeover by a Mattel designer.
  • A chance to win the new 2013 Barbie Dream-house.

The Central Park Zoo With Ugg Australia #LetsGetLost

I always look forward to our weekend family adventures.  I often feel as if we are transported away to distant lands while exploring places in New York City. We recently had quite the adventure at the Central Park Zoo thanks to UGG Australia.  We began our morning at their Madison Avenue flagship store, where I discovered so much more than the sheepskin boots that I equate with the brand.  There were so many gorgeous warm weather options to outfit the entire family.

We came dressed for monsoon weather since we left our home in a heavy downpour, but luckily the storm fully subsided for our private tour of the central park zoo.  I changed the kids into some amazing new kicks before they frolicked around some of their favorite animals including a sea lion, a polar bear, penguins and rainforest critters.  The boy was a bit of a crankster, but thankfully the UGG team had tricks up their sleeves with goody bags and an organized tour.  Our guide was also super informative! I learned that polar bear fur isn’t actually white- it’s pigment free and reflects light off of their black skin creating a white fur illusion.

We’re super grateful for a fun excursion and stylish footwear to carry us through our daily shenanigans.

UGG Australia provided my family with shoes and a tour of the Central Park Zoo.  As always, all opinions are my own.

Stokke Stroller Launch With Momtrends

Where I live, strollers are much more than transporters of our most precious cargo.  For a mama like me who depends on my own two feet for transportation, my stroller needs to perform more like an all terrain vehicle.  I look for durability, ease of use on city streets and overall comfort factor.

Since Momtrends is well known for their partnership in helping to launch many of the most sought after products, I was thrilled to attend their Stokke Chic event at the gorgeous Glasshouse showcasing Stokke’s newest strollers, Crusi and Scoot.   Along with other bloggers, I was able to test out both strollers and was impressed with the brilliant designs, maneuverability and adaptability.  I also had a chance to hear Stokke’s Director of Innovation and Design, Hilde Angelfoss speak about the design process emphasizing the child’s connection to the parent (i.e. the high seat design) and comfort in the stroller.

Stokke original Xplory, new Crusi and Scoot Strollers at Momtrends Stoke Chic Event.

The Stokke Crusi can be used from birth and is a new option in the single-to-double stroller arena.  It can easily convert from single to duo seating and is a stroller that I would have loved to use while both of my children were in strollers.  I’m not a fan of side-by-side doubles as they feel cumbersome and overpowering.  The Crusi’s sleek design actually feels more like a single (when in duo mode).   I’m impressed with the Crusi’s flexibility, the luxe feel of the seats/materials, and the overall size.

I also tested out Stokke’s new lightweight Scoot stroller.  It’s so smooth I imagine pushing it with one hand and was impressed with the simple single-hand fold.  It’s an excellent option for the urban parent who needs to lug her stroller on a train, or a suburbanite who’s looking for extra comfort in a travel stroller.

Like all of Stokke’s products, both strollers are designed to grow with the child.  They also have adjustable handlebars, substantial underseat baskets and adjustable footrests to curtail dangling feet.  They come in an assortment of  colors (I especially love the sleek grey seen below) and will be available for purchase later this month.

I even had the chance to ham it up on the red carpet (so fitting during fashion week’s kick off) with my stroller of choice, a beautiful Brahmin bag, and Stella & Dot Jewelery.

Thank you Momtrends and Stokke for a fabulous event!

I received a gift bag with Stokke products at the event.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.  All photos via Momtrends.

Cafe Escapes Storybook Bliss Party with Hostess with The Mostess

Being a Keurig lover and a crafter, I jumped at Glam Media’s invitation to attend a Storybook Bliss Party at the Eventi Hotel with Cafe Escapes and Hostess with the Mostess.

Glam Network bloggers were treated to a six course tasting menu pairing Cafe Escapes delicious flavors with sweet and savory bite-sized treats.

I was thrilled to have the chance to see Jenn Sbranti’s crafty goodness in action, through her storybook venue transformation utilizing re-purposed mason jars, coffee filters, old book pages, gold spray paint, twine, scrabble letters and embellishments.  She even provided a centerpiece crafting demo, with tutorials available for all to enjoy on  her website Hostess with the Mostess.

It was an indulgent evening with amazing women, champagne, creative inspiration and a bit of stache wearing.

Storybook bliss indeed.

I received a gift bag and cozy blanket at the event.  I will also receive a Keurig coffee machine.  No monetary compensation was received and all opinions are my my own.  Photos courtesy of millimeter photo.

Playdate Premiere Party

Every now and then, I have the chance to take my children to events that completely make their heads spin. Thanks to The Moms, I recently took Lucia to attend the Hub TV Network’s “Playdate Premiere Party” to view the season premiere of the animated series “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” and “Littlest Pet Shop”.  Lucia was smitten from the moment we entered the Gramercy Theater, walked the “purple carpet” and had our paparazzi style photos snapped.  The theater was thoroughly transformed into a purpleized pony/pet shop paradise, adorned with My Little Pony wall projections, jumbo pony and pet shop standups,  face-painters, balloon makers, and tasty treats galore.

I was thrilled to learn that children from the storm-affected communities of Breezy Point, Coney Island and Belle Harbor were brought to the event by the New York City Department of Education. The Hub TV Network also made a donation to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to assist families impacted by the devastating hurricane.
Time Out NY Kids (an additional sponsor) was also present to snap fun photos of the little attendees.

The host, actress Melissa Joan Hart, was so down to earth (don’t we look like old friends here?) and her entire family was in attendance, including her newest addition – who still has that adorable fetal curl.
An enormous coloring book was collectively colored by the children at the event – my own kiddo greatly enjoyed this activity.
The colossal coloring book achieved a Guinness World Records(R) Title Achievement for the largest coloring book (at six feet and seven inches tall and five feet wide), and Melissa Joan Hart accepted the award on behalf of the Hub.
Lucia was lucky enough to score a prime viewing bean bag to lounge on during the shows.  Clearly she made herself comfortable.
While I thought that my daughter was a bit young for Pet Shop, Lucia loved young Blythe’s ability to communicate with the cute animals, and was pretty much obsessed with all aspects of My Little Pony and the fantastic gift bag she received.  As a My Little Pony lover in the 80’s, it is fun to see the spillover into my own daughters heart.
Thank you to The Moms, for a funfilled experience with my daughter!
I was not compensated for the post, my daughter received a gift bag.  All opinions are my own.
